Lacey Easter Eggs

For this tutorial you will need:
Paint Shop Pro  ~ download a trial version.
Eliminate Black filter ~ download here.
Screenworks filter ~ download here.
My egg shape  ~  download here
(Unzip into Programs\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Shapes.)

Open a new image:
400 x 400 pixels
16.7 Million colors

Set your foreground to null and your background to solid, with your choice of color.  I am using #FC9C9C (pink).

Set your shapes tool to:
antialias & vector checked
line width 1
line style solid

Start in the top right and draw an egg about 270 x 350 (third set of numbers at the bottom).  The size is not critical, just draw out a nice big egg!

Objects > Align > Center in Canvas.

In the layer palette right click on your vector layer and convert to raster, rename this layer egg.

Selections > Select all.

Selections > Float.

Selections > Defloat.

Add a new raster layer and name it lace.

Flood fill this selection with your lace color.  I am using #EDE3D3 (ecru).

Effects > Plug-in filters > Screenworks > Fabric Weave.

Effects > Plug-in filters > Transparency > Eliminate Black.

Selections > Select none.

Image > Resize > these settings:
125% of original width & height
All layers UNchecked
Maintain aspect ratio checked

Effects > Reflection effects > Pattern > these settings:
Horizontal offset -33
Vertical offset -74
Rotation angle 350
Scale factor -20
Columns 8
Rows 5
Horizontal & Vertical shift 0

Effects > Geometric effects > Perspective-Vertical > -64.

Activate your egg layer.

Selections > Select all.

Selections > Float.

Selections > Invert.

Activate your lace layer and hit the delete key.

Selections > Invert.

Add a new raster layer and name it shadow.

Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout > these settings:
Vertical -20
Horizontal -4
Opacity 41
Blur 76.5
Shadow color black

Add a new raster layer and name it highlight.

Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout > these settings:
Vertical  8
Horizontal 4
Opacity 30
Blur 25.9
Shadow color white

Selections > Select none.

In your layer palette right click one of your layers and Merge > Merge visible.

Make eggs playing with the settings in Pattern.
