For this tutorial you will need:
Paint Shop Pro  ~ download a trial version.
Mask ~ download here for v8 or download here for v7 , unzip into your PSP masks folder .
Granite texture ~ download here, unzip into your PSP textures folder.
(I am pretty sure this is included with v8 but wanted to offer it just incase.)
*Optional - Simple Filter ~ download here.

First we need to make the gingham fill.
(I realize that there are several tutorials out there that show how to do this,
but I figured I would just write up quickly how I do it.)

Open a new image:
20 x 20 pixels
Transparent
16.7 Million colors

You may want to zoom in while making your gingham.

Flood fill your first layer with white.

Add a new raster layer.

Set your selection tool to rectangle, feather 0, and anti-alias unchecked.

Start in the top left corner (0,0) and click and drag to the middle of your image (10,10).

Flood fill the selection with your choice of color, I am using #7194CD.

Selections > Select none.

In your layer palette right click on the raster 2 layer and duplicate, then duplicate again.

Activate the top layer.

Image > Flip.

Set the opacity of this layer to 50%.

Activate the second layer down.

Image > Mirror.

Set the opacity of this layer to 50%.

Right click on any of the layers and merge.

Now your gingham is ready for use.
